Pricing FAQs

Key Atlassian cloud billing rules for app subscriptions.

How does cloud app pricing work?

Cloud apps are sold as monthly or annual subscriptions. You receive support and automatic updates while the subscription is active.

At each renewal, apps are billed based on users in your Atlassian instance. If pricing changes after purchase, Atlassian provides a 60-day grandfathering period for renewals on the previous pricing.

How do I determine my cloud pricing?

Marketplace apps are billed by the user count of your Atlassian apps. For Jira Cloud apps, pricing is based on the maximum Jira user count in the instance.

Example: if Jira Software has 50 users and Jira Service Management has 10 agents on the same instance, billing uses the 50-user tier.

  • Up to 10 users: flat price (often free for selected apps)
  • More than 10 users: per-user billing starting from the first user
  • Annual subscriptions may include a discount depending on tier
Do you offer academic, community, or open-source licenses?

Yes. Academic, community, and open-source licenses are available for qualifying organizations through Atlassian licensing programs.

Can I extend my free trial?

For cloud apps, the free evaluation period cannot be manually extended. Atlassian provides a trial period (minimum 30 days) that ends on the second billing cycle after subscription start.
